September Newsletter

A Message from the President

Can you believe it is September already? Three quarters of the year almost gone! The good news is that since it is September, we are back into the swing of things with our monthly luncheons. I missed these during the summer!

I hope to see many of you at the luncheon on Thursday, September 8th. It should be fun, and it will be great to see each other again. We will have the new Club directories to hand out, and we will also have tickets for the 4th annual Garlands and Glitter Fashion Show on sale. We also have a great speaker lined up! Our program for the September luncheon will be the host of the Emmy winning series Tennessee Crossroads, Joe Elmore. Joe has extensive experience in TV, both in front of and behind the camera. He will share with us some of the fascinating out of the way places here in Tennessee that we might not otherwise know about. To make reservations for the luncheon, you now have three options – you can send an email to newcomersluncheon@gmail.com, or call or text Kay Rorick at 260-602-4551. We need to have your reservation no later than 8:00pm on the Monday evening prior to the luncheon (September 5th).

Speaking of the luncheons, I need to announce a necessary price increase. Beginning with our September luncheon, this price will be $21. This covers a price increase by Blue Grass Country Club, and helps cover our other luncheon related expenses, such as speakers’ lunches, luncheon vouchers we give away at the Coffee Connection get-togethers to potential new members, and the centerpieces we give away. BGCC has gone through some managerial changes, and they are working hard to insure a good quality meal experience for us.

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, we are hard at work on the Fourth Annual Garlands and Glitter Fashion Show. Make sure to “save the date” of November 4th . We could use a little more help on the evening of the event. If you would be interested in helping us out, please contact me or our Garlands and Glitter committee chairperson Kay Rorick.

Another fun project we have going on is the creation of a Newcomers Cookbook. Mary Ellen Lozier is leading this project. These cookbooks will contain recipes recommended and submitted by members, and will be available before Christmas - think Christmas gifts! Please bring a copy of your favorite recipes to the luncheon, for inclusion in the cookbook. Make sure it has good directions on it, as well as your name. Recipes don’t have to be “original”. Even if it’s one you clipped out of the newspaper years ago, if you recommend it, we can include it. If you can’t make it to the luncheon, you can email your recipes to us at newcomers37075@gmail.com.
