October Brings Halloween and a Newcomers Lunch!

Our speaker for the October 10th luncheon is Brad Schmitt, the “Inside Nashville” columnist for the Tennessean. Per his introduction in the paper, he gets his stories, in part, by asking community leaders to tell him intensely personal and funny stories about themselves. He wants to write pieces of redemption, overcoming and transformation. He wants to tell his readers something they
don’t already know about someone or something in the Nashville area, like the top 5 lists for yummy food like burgers and pizza and fries. Brad has transformed himself by entering recovery from
substance abuse in 2010 and hopes to inspire more depth and vulnerability in our community through his columns. He is always up for hearing story ideas!

Gallatin CARES, our October Charity,  grew out of the vision of the Gallatin Ministerial Alliance to create a centralized place where our local people in need could come for assistance. (In fact, the CARES acronym stands for Christian Association for the Relief of Economic Suffering.)

They are proud to still be serving Gallatin and Sumner County today.

In partnership with churches, individuals, corporate friends, and other local organizations with a heart for service to our community, Gallatin CARES exists to provide short-term relief and economic assistance to those in need in Gallatin and surrounding Sumner County. Their services are specialized with offerings through their thrift store which is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m and their food pantry which is open each Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Please bring your “like new” clothing to the luncheon and we will see that Gallatin CARES gets them. Be sure to bring plenty of money to buy candy at our luncheon because the needs of Gallatin and Sumner county residents are great!!

Door prizes are a fun part of our Luncheons – like Christmas all year long! So please consider bringing a gift to pass along and watch the smiles and excitement build around the room as winners are called and door prizes awarded! Please include your name and the contents to help Judy Peck announce the gift and the gift giver.
