Newcomers & Community Club of Sumner County hosted its annual spring March 8th. This year’s theme, ‘Jeans and Jewels’ and the beneficiary of the fundraising event was Highpoint Hospice. Kicking off at 11 AM, ‘Jeans and Jewels’ was a wonderful opportunity to socialize and mingle among new and old friends alike. The luncheon included great live entertainment by up and coming singing star, Crystal Day, as well as great door prizes. The fashions for the day were by CHICO’s of Streets of Indian Lake.

You may be wondering what exactly does ‘Jeans and Jewels’ mean? This is simply a fun way of describing the theme and dress code. Come in your Everyone dressed in “Elevated Casual” attire. Meaning, dressed up casual clothes and played down dressy duds. And, all accessories, especially those of the faux jewel variety, were appropriate. The ‘fauxier’ the better! All had great fun with it. The day’s emphasis was on having fun with friends!
The club contributes to causes in Sumner County every month at their monthly luncheons and twice annually at two fashion shows. “We’ve had fantastic support from our membership and the community” said President Lynda Evjen. “About 150 women attended the sellout event last year and this is one of the larger monthly fund-raisers for the club’s philanthropies.”
HighPoint Hospice received the Money Tree donations at the luncheon (photo above.) Proceeds from the fashion show will follow once all expenses are paid. Fashion Show co-chairs Sue Olari and Connie Maynord said, “Our final figure from this event will benefit Highpoint Hospice and we will be giving a large donation to an organization that does so much for the county.”
“The show has become a tradition for Newcomers Club and many companies have donated door prizes and have sponsored the event. We are proud to have OsteoStrong as a sponsor since they are a new business in Sumner County” Said Sue Olari.
