Greetings to All,
As we welcome in 2024, let us hope and pray for peace and a wonderful year for our Sumner County Newcomers Club. I trust everyone had a grand holiday and made great memories. Our December luncheon was so magical at the beautifully decorated Lighthouse on the Lake. We thank the staff for accommodating us with a week’s notice when Bluegrass suffered damage and electrical problems. Dr. Gary Wilson was able to bring a very talented quartet of HHS choir members to entertain us. The Gallatin Child Care was our charity and members stepped up by showering the center with toys, and the director, Glenda Abel, was so appreciative. I am so grateful for each person who attended the luncheon and helped to make it a special day for all.
When the aftermath of the tornado proved to be very destructive, it was suggested that Newcomers make a donation to a charity which was helping people locally. A vote was taken by email of the Newcomers Board, and they all supported this idea. A donation of $2000 was made to the United Way of Sumner County who is working with the Chambers of Commerce and the Mayors to prioritize the donations for our county. It was a pleasure to meet Erin Birch, our local director of the United Way and an honor to deliver this donation on behalf of our club.
At the start of the New Year, many people set goals for themselves. I hope you will make it a goal to be more active in Newcomers. We really do have such amazing members. Please read the Newsletter to learn about our coming events! I wish for you a successful and inspirational New Year filled with joy and happiness.
