The Newcomers’ first luncheon of the new year will be on Thursday, September 15 at Bluegrass. Due to a golf event already on the calendar at Bluegrass we were not able to schedule our luncheon for the second Thursday in September.
We are in for a treat at our September Luncheon. Our speaker is James Morris, a published author. He is a 37 year career educator and school administrator. He taught in both public and private schools before earning a Master’s Degree in Administrative leadership. His classroom placements have been in a large urban public elementary school with a 96% poverty rate and and small suburban schools. He has held education
specialist and administrative positions. After retiring, he maintained his educational ties and served as a substitute teacher and part time Assistant Principal. He loves having the spare time to write and his current book is FLAWED HOUSES Of FOUR SEASONS. James and his wife of 38 years live in rural Davidson County surrounded by tall trees. They have one daughter.
The Sumner County Family Resource Center exists to provide support and resources, and to implement quality programs that strive to engage and empower families. Their vision is to provide families with basic resources such as clothing, food, toiletries and shoes to ensure the student is ready to learn when in the classroom. The Family Resource Center helps unlock potential by serving as a resource and support hub for Sumner County. Contact Information for Cathy Graff, Director at 651-451-6548 or email@example.com.
We will be bringing back our tradition of awarding door prizes at this luncheon. For those who are new to the club or who don’t remember, luncheon attendees voluntarily bring items in gift bags or individually wrapped to be given out after our formal program is over. Bringing these “donations” is not required for anyone, but anyone attending the luncheon and sticking around after the birthday announcements is eligible to win a door prize.
Do you have a book or two that you’ve read recently that you would like to give to someone? There will be a “library” table set up during our September luncheon where these books can be displayed. Luncheon attendees will be able to take a book or two home totally without charge. Books left on the table after the luncheon is over will be boxed up and taken to libraries in Hendersonville, Gallatin, or local hospitals.
Our Giving Tree and the presentation of a Gift Certificate for a future luncheon will both be back for our Septemberluncheon. Marcia Powell and Mary Lou McNabb are eager and ready to sell lots of candy on September 15th.
